I am Miluna Valen, director of a UK-based editorial agency, working as an editor and writing adviser with publishers and clients across Europe, North America, Australia, and Asia.
I spent ten years in private practice as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and have been engaged with psychology and psychoanalysis for over seventeen years. I also edited a peer-reviewed psychoanalytic journal for three years and am the author of three works of fiction.
Alongside my editorial practice, I am a portrait and figure artist. I publish several reflective writing series — The Intellectual’s Meal, Psychoanalysis for Writers, and Creative Writing Series — and, most recently, On Writing, a newsletter on authorship, psychoanalysis, philosophy, and creative labour.
I hold a BA in Psychology, an MA in Clinical Psychology, and an MA in Economics, and have taught undergraduate economics courses in the Department of Economics at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. I have been awarded a fully funded PhD place in Economics.
I have collaborated with The Oxford Editors (UK), BookPOD (Australia), Chiron Publishing (US), Spring Cedars Publishing (US), Plumfield Publishing (CA), and Charles H. Kerr Publishing (US), and have supported authors across five countries and at all stages of manuscript development. I am currently a writing adviser at Rowanvale Publishing (UK). I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP).
If you are working on a manuscript and would like editorial support, I would be happy to hear from you.
